Pricing

What it’ll cost, and why.

Here’s the plan as it stands. It’s a hypothesis, and nothing on this page is a checkout yet. But I’d rather show you the number now than make you book a call to find it.

  1. Free

    $0 and ₹0

For finding out if anyone opens the link.

Record a few guides, send them around, and see whether the people you send them to actually use them.

    • 3 guides
    • Public share links
    • Viewers open a browser tab
    • Chrome capture
    • A small Asterly mark on exports
  2. Team, later

    Later seat packs

    Not for sale yet.

This only makes sense once Pro is real and a few workspaces have outgrown it.

    • Seat packs once Pro is real
    • SSO after the first workspaces
    • Write to us from the waitlist if you need this sooner

Why not free forever?

Because a guide that stays on your laptop doesn’t need us. If it never has to leave your machine, keep your money. Asterly costs something at the exact moment the guide has to reach someone who won’t install anything. Hosting that page, keeping it current and keeping it fast is the product.

Why this number?

The hosted tools most teams compare us with land around $15–25 per person, often with a seat minimum or an annual commitment. We’re a smaller product, so we should cost less. $12 or ₹999 is the bottom of the range we want to test. It may go up once real teams tell us what it’s worth to them. Waitlist folks get founder pricing either way.

We’ll start monthly. Annual billing can wait until the price has survived contact with real teams. Until then, nothing on this page is an offer or an invoice.

Questions

Is this a live checkout?

No. These are the prices we plan to test with early teams. Joining the waitlist doesn’t create an account and doesn’t charge a card. There isn’t even a card field.

Why both dollars and rupees?

We expect the first teams to be in both markets. $12 and ₹999 are the low end of the band we want to test: $12–19 or ₹999–1,499 per user each month. This page shows the low end.

What does the free plan refuse to do?

Free is for trying the loop: capture, publish a public link, see if anyone opens it. It stops at three guides and keeps a small Asterly mark on exports. It isn’t meant to run a whole team forever.

What isn’t included, even on Pro?

The first hosted version is a guide and a link. Live replay inside someone else’s browser, desktop apps outside Chrome, single sign-on, and automatic redaction of every secret are later. If you need those now, look at Scribe or Tango.

Founder pricing is the reason to write now.

Nothing is connected to a payment provider. Leave your email and I’ll write when early access opens.
